OUR JOURNY

The pantomime movement started in Chittagong on April 14, 1995, with the slogan “Sundar Hok Agami.” In the early years, it was active on the streets, but in later years, it has been performing mimes on stage regularly for the audience. The notable dramatists of the pantomime movement are Debanshu Hor, Rizwan Razan, GM Mohiuddin Bulbul, Nasir Uddin Khan, Raj Ghosh, Zobaid Rana, and others. Notable directors include Debanshu Hor, Rizwan Razan, Solaman Mahadi, Raj Ghosh, and Shahidul Murad.

The pantomime movement has produced more than 3,000 performances, including about 40 pantomimes, 8 mimodramas, and two one-act productions. Apart from regular exhibitions, it organizes three workshops a year, national-level festivals, and festivals based on the foundation of the troupe. Outside the country, the Pantomime Movement has staged mime shows in West Bengal, Kolkata, Naihati, Ashanshol, Santiniketan, Cooch Behar, Siddi, Rewa, and Damo in Madhya Pradesh. Among them, the Madhya Pradesh festival was the largest in the world, lasting for 111 days. Additionally, the pantomime movement has performed in the Bangkok Theater Festival in Thailand. Pantomime magazine, the regular publication of the pantomime movement, was closed after ten years of publication. The Pantomime Movement plays a role in the formation of the Bangladesh Mime Federation. The Pantomime Movement has a long experience and is interested in combining theater practices with national theater traditions. Currently, the pantomime movement is working on the idea of “believing in the internationality of pantomime practice.”
